Street Art Tour in Berlin

I truly recommend to do an alternative tour at the back streets of Berlin and discover some of the greatest and oldest pieces of street art, urban art and graffiti of the capital.

I have to admit I am in love with the theme of today’s post. When I was in Berlin last week I had the chance to do an alternative tour at the back streets of Berlin and discover some of the greatest and oldest pieces of street art, urban art and graffiti of the capital. Even I am not an expert about the name of the artists and the painting techniques I could appreciate its creativity and art culture so much.

Michelbergershotel, the hotel where we stayed, offers alternative free tours for 3 hours almost every day. I didn’t doubt to join them to explore the areas I was more interest in knowing about from the east side of Berlin: Kreuzberg and Friedrichshain. Many of the same trends, bohemian and trashy style, young people and wall paintings are found in this district. Between the two sides, next to the River Spree, you can find the East Side Gallery with a part of the Berlin Wall now used as a memorial with wall paintings from different international artists. I find it very interesting to know what’s behind the art and the artist. What’s their inspiration and motivation? Some of them are commercials, society claims, art collections, political messages or sometimes vandalism.
