2 Day trip to Algarve
Algarve lays on the south coast of Portugal with beautiful beaches and small towns such as the surfer town of Sagres, only 2,5 hours away from Lisbon, so accessible and perfect for a 2 day trip!
Where do you go if you want to escape for a cool city weekend in Europe? Imagine a capital which is off the beaten track and not as touristy as Paris, London or Rome. Imagine an affordable city where you can combine great food, sightseeing, good party and going to the beach (that is not Barcelona 😉 ). This place exists, its incredible and its called Lisbon.
One of my best friends just moved there to stay with her boyfriend and they run a guesthouse called Lisbon Story Guesthouse. I decided to go visit her in her new hometown and was blown away with how amazing Lisbon it is!
I arrived on Friday night and they directly took me to the heart of Lisbon, Chiado to enjoy the cool ambience and beautiful views of the Independente Hotel’s terrace called the Insólito. The Independente is just an amazing place. They have 2 buildings with everything from quite cheap dorm rooms to beautifully decorated suites at very attractive prices. The rooms are accompanied by 2 great restaurants the Insólito and the Decadente all this in a supercool chic setting and full of hip and beautiful people. A must to visit in any trip to Lisbon.
On Saturday my friends wanted to show me what else Portugal has to offer so after finishing a great breakfast in their cozy guesthouse we loaded the surfboards in their car and headed down to Algarve.

There we stayed in the cute and laid back surfer town Sagres. We could visit 2 beaches one surfer Praia Amado and another one called Beliche with less wind. Another wonderful visit we should also visit would be Mareta. Like in the movie the Beach but next door to us in Europe, amazing! We also had lunch both days in restaurant O Poço. The food was so delicious we just had to head back the second day again. The fresh shellfish was probably the best I have eaten in my life, so tasty, prepared only with olive oil and garlic but you will be blown away. Don’t miss to try the “lapas” a local delicates similar to mussels.
We stayed in Mareta Beach Hotel in Sagres, a very nice, clean and affordable hotel in the center of Sagres with lovely sea views. A part from that you also have nice hotels like Memmo Baleira or Pontalaia Sagres Apartments. As you can see below these are the pictures from the DAY 2 in Praia Beliche! Priceless 🙂
A perfect weekend was over and a new favourite holidays destination discovered. Can’t wait to go back and discover more of Algarve and Lisbon’s small streets and hidden secrets.
Below I share with you some interesting and useful articles about Algarve!
